Strategic shift in Semco towards service sector in energy industry entails a mobile work force management solution such IFS Touch App Servers to go along with service management capabilities in their prime enterprise resource planning (EPR) solution, the IFS Applications. To facilitate smooth implementation of Touch App Servers (TAS –Version 10) with our recommendation they decided to update their ERP to most stable update version at the time.
In pursuant to their decision to update the ERP, Semco moved from update version four (UPD4) to update version nine (UPD9) in their enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, the IFS. Their solution was a moderately customized one with high dependency on configuration and some of those configurations were extremely complex and business critical. In the process of updating, we handled around two hundred (200) unique customizations which involved one hundred and sixty (160) layer impacted files, one hundred and twenty (120) interface impacted files across twenty-seven (27) modules.
The project was an absolute success with zero incidents. All users in Semco offices in Denmark, Norway, the Unite Kingdom, Singapore, United State and Germany worked as they use to without any interruptions in business flows after the update. On the Go Live date all customizations, configurations, and integrations to third party systems were functioning as expected and that resulted in a seamless transition from UPD4 to UPD9

Also, at time it cost almost as much money as it did to implement the solution. Our approach was simple with two-fold focus, one being minimum interruption to business and the other being minimum impact on bottom line of the organization. From initial planning stage we worked very closely with Semco until the go live plaining and post go live support where most of the merging work was carried out in purpose-built development environment.
